Heat Treatment
Known as HT (acronym for heat treatment), the phytosanitary treatment intends to eliminate plagues found in forests. During the procedure, the wood packaging materials are placed inside greenhouses projected for this function, the temperature is measured and recorded by equipment designed to this end.
To be able to apply the heat treatment, firstly, the company must be given official permission and obtain a license from the Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Supply (known in Brazil by the acronym of MAPA - Ministério da Agricultura, Pecuária e Abastecimento). Kimadeiras's license number is BR PR 214.
In order for the wood products to be transported from one country to another, they must meet the International Standards For Phytosanitary Measures No. 15 (also known as ISPM 15) regulations, standard which regulates the international transit of wood packaging materials. This measure determines that all wood materials, used in international commerce, have to be submitted to a phytosanitary treatment.
